The Game of Lasertag

INFORMATION

What Is Laser Tag?

Laser Tag is a team-based game in which players wear electronic vests with sensors and use harmless laser guns to score points by tagging opponents and different targets inside a themed maze. Everything takes place indoors, with lights, music, and special effects, turning each match into an immersive experience that feels almost like a real-life video game.

More than just a game, Laser Tag is a mix of gaming, sport, and experiential entertainment. It requires movement, strategy, teamwork, and quick reactions, but without physical contact or painful impacts. That’s why it’s a great activity for children, teenagers, adults, families, and companies looking for a different way to have fun together.

At Lasercity Madrid, Laser Tag is played in venues located inside easily accessible shopping centers, with standard 20-minute matches and capacity for groups of different sizes. This allows you to enjoy Laser Tag in Madrid as part of a complete leisure plan, combining the game with restaurants, shopping, and other activities within the same shopping center.

How do to Play

How Is
Lasertag
Played?

Playing Laser Tag is very simple. You gear up, enter the maze, and more than ever, your aim and strategy matter. Each match combines movement, reflexes, and teamwork, always in a controlled environment with no physical contact.

Game Equipment

Each player wears an electronic vest with sensors and uses a harmless laser gun that records every hit. Lights, vibrations, and sound signals let you know when you score a hit and when you’ve been tagged.

At Lasercity, we use latest-generation Helios Rank equipment, allowing for more precise, dynamic, and competitive matches, with detailed scoring shown at the end of each game.

Match Objective

The goal is to score as many points as possible by tagging rival players’ vests and different targets inside the maze.

You play in a dark environment with lights, smoke, and music, where you’ll need to move, take cover, coordinate with your team, and decide when to attack or defend. Every match is different, and the outcome depends on your strategy.

Match Duration and Structure

At Lasercity, standard matches last 20 minutes, the perfect amount of time to get into the game, feel the adrenaline, and want to play again. You can book a single match or chain several in a row with your group.

At the end of the game, you’ll see your score and ranking on the venue screens, so you can compare results, enjoy some friendly rivalry, and decide if it’s time for a rematch.

The Origin

THE ORIGIN OF
Lasertag

Laser Tag didn’t start in a shopping mall, it was born on the big screen. Its origins are closely linked to the world of science fiction and the imagination of an inventor who wanted to bring movie-style laser battles into real life… safely, and for everyone.

From Star Wars to the First Laser Tag Center

The story of Laser Tag begins in the United States in the late 1970s. The concept came to George Carter after watching Star Wars in theaters in 1977. His idea was clear: to create a game system where players could experience laser battles in a controlled environment, without physical impact or real risk.

After several years of technological development, the first Laser Tag center opened in Texas in 1984, under the name Photon. The format quickly became popular across the country: dark mazes, electronic vests, visible beams of light through smoke, and scoreboards at the end of each game. The essence of the Laser Tag experience we know today was born there.

FROM FUTURISTIC GAME TO ENTERTAINMENT FOR EVERYONE

Since the first Laser Tag centers in the 1980s, the game has evolved in technology, maze design, and game modes, while preserving its core essence: an immersive experience focused on strategy, movement, and teamwork, with no physical contact or impacts.

Today, Laser Tag is a key part of modern experiential entertainment in many countries, especially in urban areas and shopping malls. It blends video-game aesthetics with the demand for active, safe, and social plans, appealing equally to children, teenagers, adults, and companies.

WHAT IS LASERTAG LIKE AT
Lasercity
?

At Lasercity Madrid, we take this legacy and bring it into a modern, accessible, and comfortable setting: locations inside shopping malls, standard 20-minute games, next-generation Helios Rank equipment, and multiple game modes to adapt the experience to each group.

Our “recipe” is simple:

At the end of the game, the scoreboard shows who was the most accurate, which team worked best together, and who has a reason to ask for a rematch. Most players leave with the same thought in mind: “we need to play again.”
